The Legacy Left in the Barn

Change the saddle, add supplements and of course adjust the feet. Do the work, make the muscle and feel the resistance. Ignore the concern and for goodness sake, leave the imperfections of the body alone. Face the fact that every body has its limitations which start at birth.

In a ring full of horses, a Judge and Stewart stand. The canter is called for.

All eyes shift to the right. A rider asks but instead begins a fight.

In the blink of an eye, their relationship is on public display.

With glory and judgment on the line, the rider recognizes the horse’s concern.

They stand in the middle, no ribbon or praise will leave with them this day.

The traditions of good training and care have been tried.

In the stillness of the stall, tears of emotion will relieve the fallen pride.

But the honesty of honor will bring a new day.

It is time to step back and try something new.

Trust in yourself.

Follow the unfamiliar path into nature’s domain.

Friends laugh as you recognize others worldwide, who seek exactly the same thing.

In the stillness of a battered barn, late at night a horse waits as a woman ponders its problems. Inspiration sparks a thought and the process begins. The horse accepts her efforts, as unexpected relaxation sets in. Within weeks, the muscles, the feet and the work redefine the dream as perfection appears.

Back in the show ring, parents watch with anxious intent, as the judge calls for, ‘Canter’. Head level, the haunches drop, as the horse confidently steps through and the shoulders lift. The rush of engagement sends a thrill to the heart. A clean ride is completed. A championship ribbon will come home to acknowledge this moment of GLEE. The knowing crowd takes for granted what they just watched.

A young rider’s success, justifies her questioning trust.

It was not the work or all the things which were done right.

Using time, courage, trust, and a natural point of view, has created a new sense of knowing.

This young rider has learned more than most.

She’s aware of the possibility to change the physical history locked in the body of a foal. All the resistance and fight that could destroy a life, has melted in seconds, before her eyes. The dynamic resistance of sitting on a back now demonstrates the perfection of a balanced state.

Tonight, in the battered barn, another horse waits for the woman to apply her craft.  She knows answers start with wisdom, observation, patience and positive rides. As dawn arrives her image fades in the light. She hopes her efforts will not be lost. She has done her best. Now she patiently waits for the next opportunity to display the unexpected results that reshape the body into a balanced horse.

Dedicated to the Dream, a Young Rider, Supportive Parents, and a Challenged Horse’s Success.
